Sail Away

On a night, so long ago
It almost seems a dream
I saw this girl who made me grow
Who was not quite what she seemed

And through the maze of time and grief
This dream turned into disbelief
And like the lightning in a storm
Was here one moment, then was gone

I once tried to find again
This missing dream, that is now dead
But this quest is now no more
That missing dream is gone for sure

I sit alone on rooftops high
And stare aloft, at the starry sky
My eyes will always find one star
Because that star is where you are

You are no longer here with me
My ghostly dream won't let me be
And though in time, I feel alright
I'm never alone, in the night

I block you out, but still I see
What I wanted us to be
And now that that ship has sailed
I'll no longer wait, to no avail

I'll buy my ticket, and onward go
To places I never thought I'd know
And see the things I'd want to see
And there, be happy finally

So as I view the fleeting sky
I say one final, sad goodbye
And let go of all the pain I've felt
To make room for the new hand I'm dealt

Goodbye to all that love me so
I won't be here tomorrow
I'm going to a place unknown
And hope one day, that I'll be found
